Class Yoga Research Guidelines and Privacy Policy

Relevant to any parents and carers that are giving Class Yoga Ltd. permission to include their child/ children in our exciting current research project.

Yoga, as an intervention in school, is becoming more and more common but there is a lack of evidence to support use. As a leading organisation in the field of children’s yoga, Class Yoga is creating data to be used for research purposes and will be carrying out this research in a range of primary schools. This means Class Yoga will make records of interactions and teaching sessions with students, teachers and care givers.

If your child’s school has agreed to take part, Class Yoga would like to ask for your permission in this, with the purpose of recording this data to provide an evidence base for providing yoga in schools. Data may be collected by audio, video, photo and journal, as well as traditional use of interview. All of this data will be securely stored on hard drives by Class Yoga Ltd., for the purposes of research only and will not be shared with any third parties.

Class Yoga will be following the BERA 2011 guide lines (ethical research), which means all children have the right to withdraw participation at any time and all parents/ carers have the right to see any of the data at any time. You have the right to withdraw your child’s data from being published in the future, this should be done so in writing to hello@classyoga.com. This data will remain safely stored and other participants in the group will still have their anonymous data published.

Following BERA privacy guidelines, the confidential and anonymous treatment of participants’ data is considered the norm for the conduct of research. None of the children will be identifiable in the final report, unless requested by the caregiver.

Bera guidelines can be seen here: https://www.bera.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/BERA-Ethical-Guidelines-2011.pdf
